Funeral Services Directory (Built on WordPress)

Ms. Valerie Walker  has contacted Enkompass with a need to build a website directory of funeral businesses.   Ms. Walker would like for the website to allow the businesses themselves to manage their own listings as well as to submit payment through the website.   Each business will be able to select one or more types of services they offer as well as a price range for those services to make it easy for users to quickly search for a provider that best fits their needs and their budget  Ms. Walker’s website will not be designed to process any payments for services provided by the businesses listed therein.  Additionally, Ms. Walker has expressed interest in integrating the website with a mail marketing platform that will automatically reach out to the users of the site at given intervals after their initial interaction to make sure they were well-taken care of.  Additionally, Ms. Walker would like to include a service contract so that she can have peace of mind when issues with her website arise. 

Enkompass has experience building directory web sites with the features that Ms. Walker is looking for and we are happy to submit this proposal for consideration.   We will recommend the site be built on WordPress to make it easy and very quick to develop the functionality that is required in a very short amount of time.

This is a multi-faceted deployment that will require a WordPress deployment optimized for AWS.  However, we will not launch the infrastructure until we have finished developing the website to minimize costs.  The site will be developed in a LightSail instance.  The LightSail instance will eventually be migrated to EC2 and serve as the staging server.

Along with WordPress, there will be a few plugins that we will require in order to deliver a functional finished product.  WordPress is free software but some or all of the required plugins will need to be purchased at the start of the project.  We will not be able to start working on your project unless we have the requisite plugin licenses and downloadable installation packages.

The plugins we will need are:

  • JReviews for WordPress $427/year.
  • WPRocket $49
  • Groundhogg $20/.month for basic email automations

Project Scope

The following are the services we will provide to you as part of the development of your website. Some services are part of a package and are not priced or sold separately.

WordPress Web Development

Everything that will be required to develop your WordPress website as a finished product to you from start to finish. Our prices are iron-clad and we will never ask you for more money later on. The price you see is the price you will pay. This service includes: - Setup of WordPress development environment in AWS - Installation and configuration of all required plugins - Installation and configuration of required theme - Customizations to any plugins as required - Customizations to the WP login and admin dashboards - Full setup of JReviews directories and listings. - Setup of all required WordPress Taxonomies - Setup of advanced search page for users to quickly find what they nee - Basic SEO setup - Fine tuning of WPRocket cache - Configuration of WPRedis cache - Optimization of website on mobile devices using AMP - We guarantee your website will score a 90 or better on Google Page Insights. - Customized Terms of Service, Acceptable Use Policy, and Privacy Policy pages written specifically for your website by a professional lawyer. Items that are NOT included as part of this service are: - Stock Images. We highly recommend Getty Images or Adobe Stock if you would like to have high-quality images adorning your website. Licensing prices vary and are a completely separate concern. - Theme design. We are able to offer you specialized custom design services to make your website pop and truly stand out. This service is provided by a trusted associate and are sold separately. - Data entry. We only create a few sample listings for you. We do not do any data entry. - Data import. Data import is also not included but can be arranged for an additional fee. - Copywriting. We can recommend an excellent copywriter if you need such a service. We do not write any content for you and will only create pages with sample generic latin text known as 'Lorem Ipsum". - SEO optimization. Your site will be ridiculously fast and will minimum score of 90 guaranteed. This alone will do wonders for your SEO. However, we do not provide specialized SEO services and we are unable to make any referrals at this time. - Advertising. There's Google AdWords. - Media Services. We are experts with cloud video but we do not believe your website requires that feature at this time.

AWS Infrastructure Deployment

We will procure your domain name for you. If you already have a domain name, we will configure it to use AWS as its DNS provider and transfer any existing records to AWS. We will also issue SSL certificates for your website. The certs are provided by AWS free of charge and can only be used in AWS. Once the certs are configured, they will auto-renew. Your website will never again generate those ugly and embarrassing warnings if you ever forget to renew a cert! We will setup your website in a way that will allow it to automatically scale up and down based on demand. We will also set things up so that there is no single point of failure. Redundant servers, redundant database, content delivery network, a web application firewall, load balancer, and elastic file system. In plain English, your site will be very tough to bring down because it will be designed to handle a catastrophic server failure and a catastrophic failure of one of the two database servers in the cluster. We will even configure your website to heal itself in the event a problem is detected. How cool is that? Don't worry, the system will also notify you via email or SMS message when problems have been found so you can verify they were corrected. We will also setup a staging environment and create a pipeline that will allow us to later update your website without any downtime.

Our Professional Fees

Our fees for building your website are listed below. We require a 30% deposit up-front in order to get started. The remainder will be billed in accordance with a mutually agreed upon schedule and will be outlined in our contract. All payments will be made through AWS IQ.
